Skydive and Monterey Bay
Beverly wanted to go skydiving for her 70th birthday, but the timing did not work and one of her grandsons was over the maximum weight.
A year later Beverly and I were able to jump. I have done about 20 solo jumps – about 50 years ago so big difference in equipment. This was Beverly’s first jump and we both did tandem – attached to a jumpmaster.
Skydive Monterey was very friendly and helpful. There are FAA certified to take us to 18,000 feet, far higher than other companies.
After some preliminary tasks like watching a video, doing a waiver, getting harnessed in, we got into a Super King Air 200 plane.
When leaving the plane you don’t feel like falling. The free fall is about 90 seconds so time to “feel the wind” and look around.
When under the canopy, the wind is minimal, you can see a little curvature of the earth, the entire bay, and a patch work ground.
We will do this again.
Monterey is about 10 miles away. It is Beverly’s FAVORITE place with lots of traditional places to stay, eat, walk, ride bike, and much more.
